DPX Genesis

A truly economical, entry-level Computer-to-Plate system, the DPX Genesis delivers cut-to-size, processed and dried paper or polyester plates for black-and-white or color applications quickly and easily. The DPX Genesis' in-line processor system brings you the efficiency and ease of CTP - without the extra cost.

Makes computer-to-plate as easy as laser printing, while maintaining offset quality. DPX GENESIS supplies press/ready plates which are: Cut to size, perfect edge register, processed and dried - all in one unit. All plates will be delivered stacked in the exit tray.

The low-cost CTP Solution
To stay competitive, small printers not only need a fast way to move to CTP, they need an economical way to do it. The DPX GENESIS is the affordable way for small format operation to upgrade their production processes to a digital workflow - and create press-ready plates quickly and economically.

Platesetter and imagesetter in one
The DPX GENESIS is a platesetter and imagesetter in one, designed to process both film and plate materials. That means that no matter what the job or run length, the all-purpose DPX GENESIS can handle it.

To run film the film option contains a roll holder an take-up cassette so that film can be processed in an off-line processor. Plate material is processed in the in-line processor - and changing from film to plate takes less than five minutes.

Advanced capstan technology
The DPX GENESIS uses state-of-the-art Capstan technology, which exposes material as it passes in front of a laser. The advantage of Capstan is that it guarantees a high level of productivity up to 38 plates per hour can be produced.

Easy Integration
Creating plates with the DPX GENESIS is as easy as setting up an ordinary document for a laser printer. Like and ordinary printer, the DPX GENESIS connects to any MAC or PC workstation. Once connected, the user-friendly interface makes it easy to set up and position the desired print job on the plate. The DPX GENESIS automatically does the rest.

No waste between plates
Plate material for the DPX GENESIS is delivered in 61-meter rolls (200 feet). One roll is long enough to generate 150 plates. And each new plate begins where the previous one ends so there is no waste, as is usually the case when using an imagesetter to produce plates.

Easy to Calibrate
With the DPX GENESIS, it's easy to calibrate for perfect images - also in terms of highlights and shadows. By outputting a screen range from 0 -100% and keying in the actual measured values, operators can produce plates that are close to perfect.

Dot gain can also be corrected in the same way: Just print the screen range and key in the measured values.

State-of-the-art processor
The 2-bath processor operates with only two very small containers, which reduces the amount of chemistry used. Two small replenishment bottles are mounted on the back of each machine - with enough activator and stabilizer to feed one roll of plate material. This simplifies operation because all the operator has to do is change the replenishment bottles each time a new roll of plate material is inserted.

The processor's overflow pipe is designed to control the chemistry level in the containers. Excess chemicals will automatically run into the waste container and when the container is full, a warning signal tells the operator to empty the container. All the operator has to do is click the tube onto the container and push the button. A pump will automatically empty the container, so there is not contact with chemicals.

Proofing
When implementing a digital CTP workflow, proofing can be one of the many issues facing the printer. A variety of digital proofing devices raging from laser printers to inkjet and dye sublimation printers are available on the market today and are generally accepted by most customers. Mitsubishi Imaging is pleased to be able to either supply or recommend to our customers a proofing software plug-in solution for any of our digital platesetters. Mitsubishi Imaging also offers a full line of Ink Jet Papers to meet your proofing needs, including our Ink Jet Proofing Paper which is shade matched to commercial printing stock for the most accurate proofs available.
