ABDick Momentum™ Workflow The ABDick Momentum™ Workflow is a system of hardware devices
and software modules designed to take you seamlessly through the pre-press
process and onto the press. It’s an integrated, flexible solution that can be
customized to fit your particular production environment. At the core of the ABDick Momentum Workflow is the powerful
PrintersRIP which is included with every DPM digital platesetter. Based on
Harlequin ScriptWorks®, this RIP processes digital documents with speed and
precision. It supports both PDF and PostScript® workflows, or simply
“printing” from native applications on your Mac or PC. Sophisticated technology in the RIP and the DPM ensures high
quality polyester plates are delivered with excellent halftones, crisp type
and sharp line art for beautiful printed results. We offer several DPM models that share similar features and
benefits. The difference lies mainly in the size of plate produced. Select
the one that’s right for the press(es) you use. Set up the characteristics
(gripper, dot gain, screening, etc.) once for each press, then enjoy
perfectly imaged, cut-to-size, press-ready plates every time. Adding optional modules increases functionality. Choose from
color-managed proofing, trapping and calculating initial ink key settings for
ABDick presses equipped with calibrated ink fountains. If you receive
hardcopy or pre-printed originals, ScanMaster™ System easily handles those
jobs. In our ongoing effort to help printers increase productivity and
profit potential, we will continue to develop new, effective ways to
streamline production in the ABDick Momentum Workflow. |

ABDick Ink Key Estimator (IKE) ABDick further automates the printing process with our new Ink
Key Estimator software, IKE. IKE is an optional module in the ABDick
Momentum™ Workflow. It works within the Printers RIP on a DPM to streamline
the process of setting initial volumes of ink on ABDick offset presses
equipped with our new calibrated ink fountains. With IKE, a job gets the best coverage using the least amount of
ink – promoting a high quality image with less set-off and faster drying
times. Once installed, IKE reads light and dark areas in each color
separation of a job, and based on the image data, estimates the proper
settings for each ink key. This way, ink settings can be made before a single
sheet has run through the press. IKE’s results are shown on a printout which an operator uses as
a guide when setting ink keys. If adjustments are made during the run, the
new values can be noted and saved with the job information. This allows for
quick, consistent re-runs. Patented features in our new calibrated ink fountain make it the
first system to allow an operator to manually set the ink keys on a
non-automated ink fountain – and get accurate results. Traditionally, large press manufacturers have used CIP4 data to
drive expensive motorized ink fountains. ABDick developed this system to
allow small format printers to achieve similar benefits but at a fraction of
the price. |
